Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni, has been appointed Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Caretaker Committee and extraordinary National Convention.

The decision was taken on Thursday during a meeting which President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo attended.

Bashir Ahmad, an aide to the President, who tweeted this, said the National Working Committee (NWC) was also dissolved by thr president.

He said, “Following the recommendation of President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been dissolved.”

According to a presidential aide, Governors, National Assembly leaders and top members of the party all attended the meeting, which was called by the deputy national secretary of the party, Victor Giadom, who had assumed the role of acting national chairman.

The NEC is the second highest decision making organ of the APC after the congress.

However, majority of the National Working Committee (NWC) members of the party are opposed to the NEC meeting, saying Mr Giadom has no right to call such a meeting and is no longer a member of the NWC.
