Air Force Jet Crashes in Hong, Adamawa State

A jet fighter belonging to the Nigerian Air Force, NAF801, (F7-Ni fighter jet), returning to base from an interdicted mission has crashed.

The crash was said to have occurred around, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State at about 4.23 pm yesterday.

According to a statement issued by Air Commodore Dele Alonge, Director Public Relations, Nigerian Airforce. He said the crash was due to bad weather and not under enemy fire.

“There was no survival as the pilot of the aircraft lost his life in the unfortunate incident,” the statement said.

More so, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal SB Abubakar, has set up an investigation panel to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the accident.

It could be recalled that, a Dornier 228 light aircraft belonging to the Nigerian Air Force had also crashed in Kaduna, Northwest Nigeria in August, 2015.

The aircraft was said to be on its way to Abuja after taking off from the Air Force Base in Kaduna when it crashed at the old site of the Nigerian Defence Academy less than ten minutes after it took off.
