Abuja court fines Naira Marley N200,000 for violating COVID-19 lockdown rule

Barely 24-hours after Nigerian musician, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, was arraigned in Lagos, the star has also appeared before a mobile court in Abuja for performing at a drive through concert at Jabi Lake Mall on June 13, 2020 in contravention of COVID-19 guidelines.

The charges were read to him under tight security at the Eagle Square, venue of where the mobile court is sitting.

The FCT Administration had filed four counts charges bordering on violation of COVID-19 guidelines against the star.

Naira Marley, however pleaded guilty and the presiding Magistrate Idayat Akanni ordered him to pay the sum of N200,000 fine.

The magistrate further ordered him to publish a public apology in any national newspaper.
