The Federal Government has asked the National Assembly for approval to access the $1.2 billion agricultural loan from Brazil.
The minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, made this known when she appeared to defend her ministry’s 2021 budget before the House of Representatives’ committee on Finance on Tuesday.
She said, the federal government had forwarded the loan request to the National Assembly, im view that the loan, when approved would be used to issues in the agriculture value chain as Nigeria’s moves to make it another source of revenue.
According to her, the government is working towards acquiring 100,000 hectares of land in each of the 36 states for food production.
More so, the minister sais roads would be built in such locations for easy mobility for farmers and also to curb
post harvest losses.
