The Senate has called on the Federal government to immortalize the name of former governor of Oyo State, late Abiola Ajimobi, by renaming the Ibadan Arport after him.
Ajimobi who died on the June 25, 2020 was also a principal officer in the Senate where he served as a minority leader between 2003 – 2007
The resolution of the Senate followed a motion by the Senator representing Ibadan North, Buhari Abdulfatai.
According to him, Ajimobi is a jinx breaker for being the first sitting governor in Oyo state to be re-elected as governor.
More so, the Senate agreed that a delegation will be picked to commiserate with the family of Ajimobi and also the people of Oyo state for the loss of the former governor.
The Senate in its resolution on the motion also paid its last respect by observing a minute silence for the late Senator Ajimobi.
