29 arrested by EFCC for cyber crime in Ibadan

Twenty-nine young men have been arrested in Ibadan by the Zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for internet related fraud.

The anti-graft agency stormed their base in the early hours of Wednesday at Akoto Estate, Elebu.

Operatives of the agency had earlier, conducted a series of surveillance, working on strings of intelligence gathered on the activities of the suspected ‘Yahoo Boys’ in the vicinity.

According to a source, the operation was based on adequate investigation and information gathering which was found to be credible.

Among the items recovered from the suspects are eight exotic cars, many costly phones and laptops, as well as documents suspected to be used for their illicit dealings.

The source further disclosed that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are complete.
