Super Eagles loses to Atletico 3-2

Spanish Club, Atletico Madrid defeated Nigeria 3-2, in a friendly match on Tuesday, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital.

The match which was not without the usual excitement each time the Super Eagles play, saw Arsenal FC, Kelechi Nwakali scoring the first goal with a screamer, before Atletico Madrid equalized through Angel Correa.

However , the Super Eagles came close to scoring another goal before the break, but substitute Destiny Ashadi missed an open net after great work by Samad.

The second half, saw former Chelsea striker, Fernando Torres, who is having his final appearance for the Spanish club, heading home a cross, to give atletico the lead. But Nigerian number 4, Usman Mohammed drew Nigeria level with what could be said to be the best goal of the match.

After what seemed like the match was heading for a draw, and with just five minutes, 18-year old, Borja Garces netted the winner for Atletico.

The goal brought the GOtv Max Cup friendly to an end, in favour of Atletico Madrid.
