The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in the Senate on Wednesday voted against the immediate implementation of the payment of 5,000 Naira to unemployed Nigerians, a campaign promise made by the APC during the last presidential election.
The motion was sponsored by Sen. Philip Aduda (PDP FCT) but was greeted with shouts of ‘’no, no’’ when he tried to expatiate on it. The senator had requested that the Federal Government fulfill its campaign promise of paying N5,000 naira to unemployed Nigerians.
Senators from the ruling APC were against the recommendation, which resulted in a back and forth argument between lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC.
The Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, however, put the issue forward for voting and the APC lawmakers had the day.
