President Muhammadu Buhari, signs into law, the ‘Not Too Young To Run’ Bill

The bill which would further reduce the age limit for qualification to contest political positions in Nigeria, was signed into law today by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The bill, however, has now set the new age limit for eligibility for anyone seeking to contest for President at 35, while that of Governor and Senate to 30.

More so, the bill set the age limit for the national and state assemblies at 25.

It will be recalled that the President, had promised Nigerian youths, that he would be signing the bill soon.

While signing the bill into law, the president, joked that youths were free to aspire to become President, but only after the 2019 presidential election.
