President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday during his campaign rally in Akure, the Ondo State capital, took a jab at former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Buhari said, he is only seeking a second term in office and not a third term like former president Olusegun Obasanjo did after spending eight years in office.

Buhari said this without mentioning names but it was clear he was referring to Obasanjo

“We have just finished one term and are seeking a second one, and after that, the constitution doesn’t permit anymore,” Tolu Ogunlesi, special assistant to the president on digital communications, quoted him to have said.

“There are some who tried looking for more but they did not succeed. We should learn from their mistakes.”

It would be recalled that in 2006/2007, former president Olusegun Obasanjo, was alleged to have attempted ruling for a third term, after completing the constitutionally allowed eight years in office.
