President Buhari calls mother of kidnapped Dapchi school girl, Leah Sharibu

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday put a call through to Mrs. Rebecca Sharibu, mother of the Dapchi Secondary schoolgirl, Leah, who was kidnapped along with her mates by Boko Haram, who failed to return her when other girls were brought back to the village after negotiations with government.

This was made known in a statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity.

According the statement, President Buhari consoled the Sharibu family and assured them on Federal Government’s commitment to do all within its power to ensure her safe return home.

He said: “I convey my emotion, the strong commitment of my administration and the solidarity of all Nigerians to you and your family as we will do our best to bring your daughter home in peace and safety.”

He assured the mother that his heart was with her family, like that of the entire nation which continues to pray for the safe return of “our daughter, Leah.”

The President reiterated his commitment for her safe return in a tweet, after the call with Mrs. Sharibu, saying,

“Today I spoke with Mrs Rebecca Sharibu, to reiterate our determination to bring her daughter Leah back home safely. The thoughts & prayers of all Nigerians are with the Sharibu family, & the families of all those still in captivity. We will do everything we can to bring them back,” the president assure.
