Premiership Club, Brighton Signs Super Eagles Defender Leon Balogun

Germany born, Nigerian defender, Leon Balogun has signed a two year deal with English Premier League Football Club, Brighton & Hove Albion.

The defender signed on a free transfer after his exit from Bundesliga side FSV Mainz.
The club manager who confirmed the agreement with the 29-year-old defender, said, “I am delighted to welcome Leon to the club. He will add more depth to our defensive options, and I am pleased to get our first piece of business done so early in the summer,” Brighton manager Chris Hughton said.
“He is in the peak years of his career and I am sure he will integrate well into the squad.

“He also has valuable experience, having played in the Bundesliga, the Europa League and at international level.”

The club also confirmed the signing of the defender on their official twitter handle,

Balogun began his career at Turkiyemspor Berlin before moving to German side, Hannover, then he proceeded to Werder Bremen. More so, played with Fortuna Dusseldorf and SV Darmstadt, before he finally joined Mainz in July 2015, where he made a total of 58 appearances.

Balogun whose father is a Nigerian, has 14 caps for Nigeria and will be at the Russia 2018 World Cup, after his name was included in the provisional 30-man list.
