Microsoft has on Thursday sacked 34 out of employees working in it phone division in Nigeria. The number represents 85% of the company’s labour force.

The sacking of the workers followed hours after the company has introduced its latest Windows 10 OS in Nigeria as well as in other 189 countries across the world.

The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Satya Ndella has revealed in a memo sent in June to all its employees in Nigeria that the company would have to make tough choices in areas that were not functioning well. The memo also mentioned that 7,800 employees would be retrenched from the mobile division

Punch newspaper reported that the affected workers have not said anything about their retrenchment. However, the retrenchment of the workers according to a source follows the decision of the company to reduce the workforce in its phone division across the work.
