MIA Group has released a statement announcing that it has partnered with Jumia which is the leading online shopping platform in Nigeria to sell Xiaomi’s Smartphones in Nigeria. Xiaomi has given MIA Group to right of distributorship of its products in Africa.
The two smartphones to be introduced in the Nigeria consumer market are Redmi 2 and Mi 4. The two phones will be on sale within the second week of November. The former will be sold for N29,000 while the latter will be sold for N56,000. Redmi 2 features 8-megapixel camera and 4.7 inch HD screen while the Mi 4 which is a flagship phone is enwrapped in a stainless steel frame. It features 13MP f/1.8 rear camera and 5” IPS Full HD display as well as a front-facing 8MP camera.
Jumia which is the major online shopping platform in Nigeria will sell the phones on November 27, 2015 which is the day for the company’s Black Friday.
RJ van Spaandonk who is the president of MIA Group described Nigeria as the major country for smartphone growth. According to him, the company is excited to sell the smartphones in the Nigeria consumer market at affordable price in partnership with Jumia .
Jumia Black Friday comes up on November 27, 2015 and the giant online shopping platform is hoping to make great sales during this day.
Xiaomi hopes to establish its presence forcefully in the Nigeria consumer market with the introduction of Redmi 2 and Mi 4, Xiaomi. A lot of mobile phone users in Nigeria utilize smartphones. Out of 140 million mobile phone users in Nigeria, 30% are using smartphones and the number is said to increase to 12 million by the end of this year.
Xiaomi which is worth $45 billion has established reputation in the industry with the creation of high-quality smartphones which are sold at affordable prices. The company has become the fifth largest manufacturer of smartphones across the globe just within five years of introducing smartphones.
