Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, governor of Kwara State, has announced his decision to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

The governor made this known through a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede.

The statement reads: “Following due consultations with the people and in response to calls by major stakeholder groups in the state, Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed today defected to the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), having realized that the All Progressive Congress (APC) can no longer serve as a platform for achieving the aspirations and expectations of his people.

This is coming barely an hour after the Senate President Bukola Saraki, who is also from Kwara State, announced his decision to leave the ruling party.
