According to an estimated figure released by the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Nigeria‘s Yam Exports has dropped relative to Ghana‘s yam produce due to Nigeria‘s high reliance on traditional planting system.

This estimation was announced in Ibadan by Nobert Maroya of Yam Improvement for Income and Food Security in West Africa during a meeting with Nigerian seed production companies.

Maroya in his statement made it clear that the yam improvement project had produced high ratio growth advancement such as boreactor, vine cuttings and aeroponics to rectify the restriction of seed yam‘s quality and multiplication.
