Former Bornu State Governor, Ali Modu Sherrif has been nominated the new acting national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He emerged the chairman after the National Caucus of the PDP nominated him.
Ali had earlier in the past been accused of funding and having close links to Boko Haram while serving as Governor of Bornu State. An allegation he still denies to this day.
His nomination was disclosed to newsmen by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Olisa Metuh.
He said all organs of the party, including the national caucus, the PDP Governors’ Forum and the National Assembly caucuses have agreed to have Ali Sheriff serve as national chairman.
He added that the decision would be communicated to the Board of Trustees and the National Executive Committee of the party for ratification, before a formal announcement would be made.
