FG officially launches new international passport

The Federal Government has launched the new 60-page Nigeria international passport, with ten years validity period.

This includes the red diplomatic passport.

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Vice, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, were issued their new 10-year Diplomatic passport by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and presented to them by the Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau and assisted by the Comptroller General of NIS, Mohammed Babandede after their biometrics were captured and processed.

The short ceremony took place immediatelt after the emergency Federal Executive Council meeting (FEC) held in Abuja.

Apart from the ten-year validity, the new passport, according to Babandede, has 25 special features and difference from the existing passports.

The new passport, which would run concurrently with the existing passports, has an enhanced and self-tracking application feature and is ” weather friendly.”

The passport, has polycarbonate technology that eliminates damages.

While noting that the initiative behind the passport is to save Nigerians in disapora the stress of constantly visiting Nigerian embassies in search of new passports.
