Etisalat Nigeria, one of the leading telecom service providers in Nigeria has released the list of finalists for the company’s Prize for Innovation, 2015.
The two categories which are Innovative Product/Service and Innovative Idea were listed without following any particular order. A cash of NGN5million, a year free Etisalat data bundle, high-end mobile devices, product promotion on the online platforms of Etisalat and business development mentoring will be given to the winner of the Innovative Product/Service. On the other hand, the winner of the Innovative Idea will be rewarded with a 2 million Naira cash prize and other prizes given to the winner of the first category (with the exclusion of the NGN5 million cash prize).
Digital Back Books which is the first Nigerian subscription based e-book platform and Study Math Lab which is a repository containing over one thousand three hundred videos of curriculum math problems of senior secondary school NERDC in which more than 49 topics were solved by a group of teachers of mathematics under the leadership of a chief examiner of WAEC made the list of the Innovative Product Category. Included in the list for Innovative Idea Category are the Dedicated Traffic Mapping Device (DTMD) which is a traffic navigation device complete with voice over and GPRS features and capabilities for providing real-time traffic data and alternative routes to their destination and the Traffigator Tech which is a web and mobile based application that offers users with navigation details within cities via the public transportation system peculiar to the city at that particular time.
Matthew Wilsher, the CEO of Etisalat who announced the finalists said that the finalists were chosen by the judges out of rigor. He told the audience that the company is happy to recognize the impressive innovations and those that made them. The winners according to him would be celebrated during the ceremony of the award.
The Prize of Innovation has as its objective, the encouragement and celebration of valuable innovation in Africa market.
