Etisalat one of the biggest telecom service providers has organized a three-day capacity building programme for the unemployed youth in partnership with Leadership Empowerment and Resource Network (LEARN).
The aim of the training was to address the challenges of employability. It is also aimed at providing employment tools to the youths and fresh graduates to enhance their advantage in the labour market.
The programme has been carried out for the past four years and many youths have been trained. Ibrahim Dikko, the Vice President, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs who spoke about the programme explained that the capacity building programme is designed to empower youths who have no job with basic skills for gainful employment.
According to him, the programme started since 2011. He said that Etisalat was committed to Nigerian youth’s development. Dikko said that through the partnership with LEARN, the company has successfully educated and empowered a lot of youths including newly graduates.
Dikko strongly believed that through the training the gap between the employed and unemployed people with be bridged.
The training was facilitated by Demola Aderibigbe who explained that the programme module was designed to equip job seekers with skills which according to him included cognitive capacity, comportment and inter-personal communication.
The program forms part of the corporate social responsibility of the company which extends to various aspects of life such as sports, health and education.
