Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives have apprehended former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Madam Nkechi Ejele. She was arrested for questioning over the role she played in the evaporation of NGN500 million Subsidy Re-investment Programme (Sure-P) cash meant for Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Madam Nkechi was sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari last week and has been called by the EFCC to give answers to questions on how the huge sum of cash set aside by the government for the Ministry got missing under her watch.
It was reliable gathered that Mrs. Nkechi upon her arrival the headquarters of the anti-graft agency around 10 am on November 19, 2015 received drilling till 3pm.
The former Permanent Secretary is will be admitted to administrative bail pending when she would be officially charged for the alleged offence.
It should be recalled that the Sure-P fund was shared among many agencies of government to help offset the adverse effect of oil subsidy’s the partial removal by the government in 2011.
However, the good gesture of the government concerning the fund was heavily defeated as the funds have been allegedly stolen and diverted into individual pockets.
