Congratulations to Queen Elizabeth II as she becomes the longest reigning monarch in British history.

On the coronation day

Today, the 9th of September 2015, Queen Elizabeth II will become the longest reigning monarch in British history, breaking the record held by her great great grandmother Queen Victoria, overtaking Queen Victoria’s record of 63 years and 216 days on the throne.

The Queen will have reigned for 63 years and seven months – calculated at 23,226 days, 16 hours and approximately 30 minutes at about 17:30 BST.

Queen Elizabeth II who is 89 years now,was born Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary on April 21, 1926, in London, to Prince Albert, Duke of York (later King George VI), and Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon.

She married Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh in 1947, became queen on February 6, 1952, and was crowned on June 2, 1953.
