Buhari Ready to Invest in Science, Technology and Innovation

President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday expressed his administration’s commitment to help Nigeria compete with other nations in Africa and the world at large by investing in Science, Technology and Innovation (STI).

President Buhari speaking during the inaugural meeting of National Research and Innovation Council (NRIC) on Thursday, 7th January 2016 said his administration can best achieve its goal of securing the country, growing the economy, creating jobs and fighting crime if it embraces sciences and technology.

He told the Council that his administration was determined and committed to investing in science, technology and innovation properly in order for the nation to compete with other nations across the globe.

The President told his audience that he was aware of the fact that for Nigeria to occupy a prominent position among the leading economies in the modern world, it has to give high priority to science and technology.

He charged the Council to facilitate the process of integrating science, technology and innovation fully into the country’s socio-economic development process which according to him is very vital for the achievement of the the nation’s vision of becoming one of the 20 largest economies in the world by the year 2020.
