A bomb has gone off at the headquarters of the Anti-bomb Unit and Criminal Investigative Department (CID) of the Nigeria Police in Jimeta-Yola, Adamawa State.

Witnesses who flocked to the Police station after the blast, said bodies of policemen and civilians were lying in the premises, although the number of casualties are not known.

However, Mr. Muhammed Ghazali, the Adamawa Police Commissioner told newsmen that the explosion was not as a result of a Boko Haram attack but rather, a mistake by the anti-bomb unit, where one of the bombs kept by the police attached to that department accidentally exploded.

It will be recalled that Adamawa state has witnessed several attacks by the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
