Boko Haram: Army Resumes Court Martial Hearing of 19 Officers

The Nigerian Army has resumed the court martial hearing of 19 senior officers, facing prosecution for various offences in the ongoing fight against the Boko Haram sect.

Army authorities resumed the trial at the Ikeja Cantonment, Ikeja on Monday, a lawyer confirmed.

The 81 Division of the Nigerian Army convened the General Court Martial to try 23 officers of the Army for various offences under the directive of former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, (retd) in October, 2014.

The lawyer further added that the Military Court Martial had only been able to try and conclude the cases involving four officers since the court started sitting in 2014.
