51-Yr Old Liberian President George Weah Plays For 79 Min, Against Super Eagles, As Liberian FA Retires His No. 14 Jersey

Liberia President and former Ballon d’Or winner, George Weah yesterday played in the friendly match between Liberia and Nigeria.

Although, Nigeria won Liberia 2-1, with goals coming from Henry Onyekuru and Simon Nwankwo, it was a sight to behold the 51- year old play for 79’min before he being substituted.

The Liberian FA also announced the retirement of the No 14 shirt, from the National Team, in honour of their President, George Weah.

Liberia’s only goal came from a spot kick but couldn’t stop the Super Eagles’ of Nigeria from coming out with a victory in Monrovia.

As a kind gesture, the Liberian president also gifted each Super Eagles player with the sum of $2000, as he praises the Nigerian FA of having a good squad

Meanwhile, his son Tim Weah (18 years old) also started for the USA National team against Mexico, about the same time, his father was on the pitch, playing against Nigeria.
